Edmonton Oilers Secure Victory Over Nashville Predators with McDavid’s Lead Goal
In a closely contested match at Bridgestone Arena, the Edmonton Oilers secured a 4-2 victory against the Nashville Predators. The Oilers’ defenseman Brett Kulak scored twice, while captain Connor McDavid netted his first goal of the season, leading the Oilers to their second consecutive win.
The game marked the Oilers’ recovery after an initial three-game losing streak at the start of the season. Calgary Pickard, the Oilers’ goaltender, made 25 saves, crucial in maintaining their edge throughout the game. On the other hand, Juuse Saros of the Predators made 32 saves but couldn’t prevent the Oilers from capitalizing on key opportunities.
Nashville initially took the lead with Filip Forsberg redirecting a shot by Roman Josi at 11:46 in the first period, giving Forsberg his first goal of the season. However, Edmonton promptly responded when Kulak scored with a formidable slap shot at 17:39 of the first, bringing the score to a tie.
The Predators managed to level the game once more in the second period after Jonathan Marchessault scored during a power play, marking his first goal for the Predators since joining the team under a notable five-year contract in July. Nevertheless, the tie was short-lived as McDavid responded with a goal at 18:29 in the same period, regaining the lead for Edmonton.
Further sealing their victory, Kulak scored an open-net goal in the final minute, securing the Oilers’ win. This match marked an impressive personal milestone for Nashville’s Luke Schenn, who played his 1,000th NHL game, though it was a night the Predators would rather forget, falling to a 0-4 start.
The Oilers are set to face the Dallas Stars in a rematch of last season’s Western Conference final on Saturday, while the Predators will host the Detroit Red Wings, aiming to turn their young season around.
