Elsa Majimbo Opens Up About Strained Relationship with Naomi Campbell
South Africa-based Kenyan chess champion and comedian Elsa Majimbo recently shared details about her relationship with British supermodel Naomi Campbell, offering insights into their encounters and the current state of their connection.
Recalling their first meeting in December 2020 in Nairobi, Elsa detailed how she reached out to Naomi via Instagram, leading to a memorable hangout session arranged by the supermodel. During this time, they shared experiences and created content together.
They bonded over activities like shopping, makeup trials, and even collaborated on decorating a Christmas tree. Naomi featured Elsa on her ‘No Filter With Naomi’ show, helping elevate Elsa’s viral status on TikTok.
A notable interaction between the two was when Naomi suggested Elsa create a documentary about her life in Kenya. This encounter led to introductions to Hollywood contacts and a gathering at the luxurious Kempinski hotel in Nairobi.
However, tensions arose in March 2022 when Naomi raised concerns about Elsa’s short film, ‘Albus’. A miscommunication led Naomi to believe that Elsa had executed a documentary project without her involvement.
Despite efforts to clarify the issue, Elsa shared that their relationship deteriorated, with Naomi indicating a desire to cease communication. Elsa attempted to reach out and make amends but received little response from Naomi.
A turning point came when Elsa met with Edward Enninful, the ex-editor-in-chief of British Vogue, realizing the seriousness of the situation. Subsequent efforts were made to reconnect with Naomi through mutual contacts.
While Naomi extended New Year wishes to Elsa in 2023, the strained relationship still lingers, with Elsa acknowledging the influence Naomi’s acknowledgment had on her career while affirming their current status as neither friends nor enemies.
Returning to the topic in a recent viral TikTok video, Elsa reflected on the impact of the situation, candidly discussing its effects and her attempts to address the underlying issues. She ultimately emphasized the importance of seeking resolution and moving forward.
