Emmy Winner Joins Spider-Man: Brand New Day Cast

Los Angeles, CA – Emmy-winning actress Jessica Colón-Zayas has joined the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth installment in Sony Pictures and Marvel‘s Spider-Man franchise. The announcement comes from Deadline and was made on May 8, 2025. While details of her character remain under wraps, Colón-Zayas’s addition adds anticipation to the film’s ensemble.
Colón-Zayas, best known for her role as Tina Marrero in FX’s acclaimed series The Bear, will share the screen with Tom Holland, who returns as Peter Parker. Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is also part of the cast in a yet unspecified role. Reports suggest that Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are expected to reprise their roles as MJ and Ned, respectively.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film is scheduled to begin production later this year, with a release set for July 31, 2026. Colón-Zayas’s casting marks her first major role in a superhero film after winning an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2024.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is noteworthy for being the first live-action Spider-Man film since Spider-Man: No Way Home, which grossed over $1.9 billion in 2021. The previous Holland-led films have also been successful, with Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: Homecoming earning over a billion dollars and $880 million, respectively.
Colón-Zayas’s performance in The Bear earned her significant recognition, making her the first Latina to win an Emmy in that category. In addition to her television success, she has appeared in films such as United 93, Righteous Kill, and Cat Person.
As production for Spider-Man: Brand New Day kicks off, fans are eager to learn more about the cast and storyline. Current details remain scarce, but the film’s release promises to bring more superhero action to theaters in summer 2026.
