Mac Jones Quarterback Injury Update

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The San Francisco 49ers received positive news as quarterback Mac Jones and wide receiver Jauan Jennings are expected to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday at Raymond James Stadium.

Jones, who has been dealing with knee and oblique injuries, managed to practice limitedly this week but remained optimistic about his playing status. In previous games, he played through a knee issue, and he noted that he sustained the oblique injury near the end of the last match. “I have a good plan in place for Sunday,” Jones said. “We’ll see how I feel when I get there.”

Jennings is also recovering from an ankle and rib injury but is anticipated to contribute to the 49ers’ offense as they aim to improve their 4-1 record. The return of both players is a significant boost for the 49ers, who have relied heavily on them early this season.

Meanwhile, quarterback Brock Purdy is not expected to play, still sidelined with a toe injury, which leaves Jones in line for his second straight start. Rookie Adrian Martinez will serve as the backup during the game. “Mick Lombardi wanted to go out there and play quarterback, and he looked pretty good,” Jones joked, referring to the team’s quarterbacks coach.

Other players listed as questionable include defensive tackles Kevin Givens and Javon Kinlaw, which adds to the team’s ongoing injury concerns. Their official game statuses will be confirmed 90 minutes before kickoff when the team releases its inactive list.

Overall, the 49ers are optimistic about their prospects against the Buccaneers as they continue to navigate injuries and maintain their strong early season performance.
