Jack Black Dear Santa Movie

Actor Jack Black assumes a devilish role in the new Paramount+ Christmas comedy «Dear Santa,» which tells the story of a boy who mistakenly addresses a letter to «Satan» instead of «Santa.» The film’s trailer, released in anticipation of its November 25 debut on the streaming service, has sparked debate across social media platforms.

The plot centers around young Liam Turner, who inadvertently summons Satan after misspelling Santa’s name in his letter. Black’s character offers the boy three wishes in exchange for his soul, a scenario that leads Liam and Satan through a series of increasingly extravagant adventures. Highlights include collaborations with celebrities such as pop star Post Malone, who makes a special appearance in the film.

In the trailer, Satan attempts to convince Liam he is superior to Santa, showcasing the glitzy outcomes of the boy’s wishes. Imagery in the clips features Liam engaged in gambling, luxuriating in riches, and mingling with famous personalities.

This creative narrative has led to mixed reactions. Some social media users have expressed discontent with the film’s themes, arguing it glorifies Satanic elements. «I won’t be wasting my time on a movie that glorifies Satan,» commented one Instagram user. Another added, «The normalization of Satan continues. Don’t fall for it folks. Jesus is King.»

Conversely, some viewers perceive the film as harmless fun, appreciating it as a unique addition to Christmas movie lineups. «It looks like a dumb fun Christmas film that’s not meant to be taken seriously,» wrote another Instagram commenter in defense of «Dear Santa.»

While an actor known for comedic versatility, Jack Black’s personal beliefs include identifying as «kind of an atheist,» a fact he shared in past interviews. In 2012, Black remarked, «I don’t have any real spirituality in my life … but when music can take me to the highest heights, it’s almost like a spiritual feeling.»

The film also stars Keegan-Michael Key, who plays family and friends attempting to prevent the boy from giving up his soul. Despite the controversy, «Dear Santa» aims to be part of the holiday film tradition, blending humor with fantasy elements.
