Actor Laurence Fox Ordered to Pay Damages in High Court Libel Case
Actor and politician Laurence Fox has been instructed by the High Court to pay substantial damages following a libel case involving him and two individuals, Simon Blake and Crystal.
The dispute stemmed from an online exchange on social media platform X, where Fox referred to Blake and Crystal as «paedophiles» during a conversation about retailer Sainsbury's and Black History Month.
In the ruling, Mrs Justice Collins Rice described Fox’s comments as «gross, groundless, and indefensible,» leading to financial compensation of £90,000 to each of the plaintiffs.
Laurence Fox, known for his roles on ITV‘s ‘Lewis‘ and his short-lived GB News show, faced backlash for the remarks made on air about a female journalist which led to his departure from the network.
Having unsuccessfully run for London mayor in 2021, Fox’s legal battles have continued, with this recent case bringing further attention to his actions both on and off-screen.
