Adam Schefter Reveals Unusual Setting for Breaking NFL News
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter recently recounted a memorable moment from his career during an appearance on Kevin Clark‘s «This Is Football» podcast. Schefter, known for breaking major NFL stories, revealed the unusual setting in which he reported one piece of news, leaving the podcast host and listeners in surprise.
On the podcast, Clark asked Schefter about the «weirdest place» he had ever broken a story. In response, Schefter shared an anecdote from his time in Denver. «I can remember being in Denver one time,» Schefter said with a smirk. «I had just spent time with this woman for the first time and got a text that Dale Carter was being suspended for eight games for substance abuse,» he recounted, notably maintaining his humor during the story.
Schefter went on to explain that he confirmed the news while in bed, continuing his conversation with Clark, «So, as I continued to lay there, confirm it, and got the job done in every which way,» he said, eliciting laughter from the host.
The ESPN insider clarified that he technically reported the news after the encounter. The story referenced concerned former Broncos cornerback Dale Carter, who in 2000 was suspended by the NFL for a year after violating the league’s substance-abuse policy for the third time, despite not testing positive for drug use at that time. Schefter was then a reporter for the Denver Post.
While Schefter did not disclose the identity of the woman involved, he did note that this incident took place early in his career. Schefter has since married Sharri Maio in 2007, and they have a 15-year-old daughter named Dylan.
