Adam Schefter Podcast Appearance 2024

Adam Schefter, the reputable NFL insider for ESPN, recently became the subject of widespread social media discussion following an appearance on the «This Is Football» podcast hosted by Kevin Clark. During the podcast, Schefter recounted a peculiar anecdote about breaking a significant news story, which unexpectedly drew attention from fans and media alike.

The story, which Schefter shared with a hint of humor, took place in Denver. Schefter explained that while he had just «spent time» with a woman for the first time, he received a text about former Broncos cornerback Dale Carter‘s suspension from the NFL for substance abuse. «I can remember being in Denver one time,» Schefter said, smirking. «I had just spent time with this woman for the first time and got a text that [Dale Carter] was being suspended for eight games for substance abuse.»

Following the podcast’s release, Schefter found himself responding to numerous text messages, including from his wife, Sharri Maio. While speaking during a radio appearance on WEEI 93.7 FM, Schefter laughed off the situation, noting, «All day long I’ve been responding to texts about this, including my wife this afternoon. My wife didn’t appreciate the story as much as other people, I’d say. I should point that out. Some people enjoy it — my wife, not as much.» Schefter chose not to disclose the content of his wife’s message.

Despite the buzz his anecdote created, Schefter seemed nonchalant about the reaction. «I said what I said, right?» he remarked, further explaining his shock at the story’s viral spread. Some of the amusement stems from the fact that Schefter later clarified that he technically broke the news «after» the intimate encounter.

At the time of the incident, Schefter was working as a reporter for the Denver Post. The suspension of Dale Carter in 2000 was a significant news event, as Carter faced a one-year suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy for the third time. This instance marked one of the unique moments in Schefter’s storied reporting career.

Adam Schefter and Sharri Maio have been married since 2007. They have a daughter named Dylan, aged 15, while Maio also has a son, Devon, from a previous relationship. Schefter’s recounting of his unusual news reporting experience has once again highlighted the sometimes unpredictable and entertaining nature of his profession.
