Adele Concludes Her Iconic Las Vegas Residency with an Emotional Farewell
Renowned British singer Adele wrapped up her celebrated two-year residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas with a poignant performance on November 24, 2024. The 36-year-old artist played her 100th and final show in what was known as the ‘Weekends With Adele‘ concert series, sharing an emotional farewell with her fans in attendance.
The residency, initially set to begin in January 2022, faced delays primarily due to a COVID-19 outbreak among production staff. Once rescheduled, it inaugurated in November 2022 and continued to be a fixture every Friday and Saturday night. Throughout the series, Adele frequently engaged with the audience, providing personal insights into her life and career.
Adele became tearful as she expressed gratitude for the unforgettable experience in Las Vegas, stating, «I’m so sad this residency is over but I am so glad that it happened.» In fan-captured footage, she conveyed her appreciation for her family, particularly her son, noting, «I chose to do a residency so I could keep his life normal.»
Adding to the emotional weight of the final shows, Canadian music legend Celine Dion, whom Adele has cited as an inspiration, attended one of her performances. The two icons shared a heartfelt hug, marking a personal highlight for Adele. Reflecting on this moment, she remarked, «I cried for a whole week. A whole week. It was just such a full-circle moment for me.»
Despite the success of her residency, Adele has announced intentions to take a significant break from music following these concerts. In a candid remark, she revealed, «I don’t know when I next want to perform again,» emphasizing a desire to explore other creative avenues and hinting at a longstanding interest in studying English literature.
Her deep connection with fans was evident when she defended an audience member’s enthusiasm during a previous show, illustrating her commitment to an inclusive and supportive performance environment. Nevertheless, not all her performances were without controversy, as seen when she addressed a disparaging comment about Pride with fervent disapproval.
Adele’s albums, such as ’19’, ’21’, ’25’, and ’30’, have been monumental successes worldwide, further cementing her status as one of the most influential artists of her generation. As she steps back from the spotlight, the anticipation for her eventual return remains palpable among her global fanbase.
