Albany Man Arrested following Interstate Road Rage Incident Involving Handgun
State Police of Latham took Khymeir Yarbrough, 25, of Albany, NY, into custody on July 2, 2024, following a road rage incident that escalated to menacing with a handgun. Yarbrough faced charges of Menacing in the Second Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
The incident, which occurred on April 13, 2024, at around 4:26 p.m. on I-787 in Albany, involved Yarbrough displaying and pointing a handgun at the victims, who were traveling with a child under the age of 17. The Albany City Court issued an arrest warrant for Yarbrough after confirming his identity as the perpetrator.
Yarbrough was apprehended during a traffic stop on Madison Avenue and attempted to flee on foot but was swiftly captured on Partridge Street. Further investigation revealed felony-weight narcotics in his possession, leading to additional charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and Resisting Arrest.
Major Dennis Schager, the Troop G Commander, emphasized the gravity of the situation and the swift action taken by the State Police to ensure public safety. Yarbrough was arraigned at Green Island Town Court before being remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail.
