With the new Bundesliga season kicking off, Robert Andrich is excited about the opportunities ahead for Bayer Leverkusen. After a fantastic 2023/24 campaign where the team made history, Andrich has extended his contract and is keen on adding more trophies.

Last season, Leverkusen surprised many by securing their first Bundesliga title with an astonishing unbeaten run. They clinched the title with an 18-point lead, which was something no other team had achieved before.

Aside from their Bundesliga success, the team faced disappointment in the UEFA Europa League final against Atalanta, where they suffered their only loss of the season. Despite this setback, Andrich was able to celebrate his achievements by getting his first tattoos representing the trophies.

As they head into the 2024/25 season, Leverkusen is one of the favorites for the title again. However, with other teams strengthening their squads, they have to prepare for a tough competition.

Andrich believes that other teams are now aware of Leverkusen’s style and will adapt their strategies when facing them. He emphasizes the importance of being flexible and having various tactics ready from the very start of the season.

Leverkusen’s first task will be against last season’s runners-up, Stuttgart. Andrich views this match as crucial for building momentum and aims to win it to set the tone for the league campaign.

Last summer, Andrich also participated in Euro 2024 with Germany, where he played a pivotal role except for one match. Reflecting on the tournament, he noted how it reignited the public’s connection with the national team.

After a relaxing holiday in Italy, he’s fully focused on returning to club football and looks forward to keeping up the strong performance that helped Leverkusen dominate last season.
