Apple Orders Second Season of ‘Your Friends & Neighbors’ Before First Season Premiere
Apple has confirmed that it will be moving forward with a second season of its drama series «Your Friends & Neighbors,» even though the show has yet to debut. The nine-episode first season is slated to premiere on April 11. This swift renewal reflects confidence in the upcoming series, which is headlined by celebrated actor Jon Hamm.
Hamm, who is also an executive producer on the project, stars as Andrew «Coop» Cooper, a hedge fund manager who recently experienced the double blow of being fired in disgrace and going through a divorce. His character resorts to stealing from affluent neighbors in Westmont Village and soon uncovers secrets and affairs that are far more dangerous than anticipated.
The series creator and executive producer, Jonathan Tropper, expressed his excitement about bringing the project to life, stating, «I’ve had this show in my head for years, and making it has been a dream come true.» Tropper is recognized for his work on «Warrior,» «Banshee,» and Apple’s «See.» The series benefits from collaboration with executive producers Connie Tavel and Craig Gillespie, among others.
The show, produced by Apple Studios where Tropper has an overall deal, marks Jon Hamm’s first significant lead role in a series since the acclaimed «Mad Men» concluded in 2015. However, Hamm has remained active with roles in Apple’s «The Morning Show,» an Emmy-nominated performance in FX’s «Fargo,» and the newly released «Landman» on Paramount+.
«Your Friends & Neighbors» also features a strong supporting cast, including Amanda Peet, Olivia Munn, Hoon Lee, Mark Tallman, Lena Hall, Aimee Carrero, Eunice Bae, Isabel Marie Gravitt, and Donovan Colan. The direction for season one includes efforts from Gillespie, who directed the first two episodes, as well as Stephanie Laing and Greg Yaitanes.
