Apple Vision Pro Officially Launches in Canada
The much-anticipated Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset has officially launched in Canada, among other countries including France, Germany, and the U.K. The headset is the latest offering from tech giant Apple and comes with a starting price of $5,000.
According to Bank of America‘s senior information technology hardware analyst, Wamsi Mohan, initial projections for the device were between half a million and one million units. However, the analyst believes the current sales figures may be closer to the lower end of that estimate.
Starting at $5,000, the Apple Vision Pro has faced some pushback due to its hefty price tag. Analyst Mohan likens the cost to being able to purchase three MacBook Air laptops for the same price as one Vision Pro headset.
Apple has responded to the pricing concerns by offering in-store demonstrations at Apple Stores. Mike Rockwell, the vice-president of Apple’s vision products group, emphasized the importance of experiential demos in showcasing the device’s capabilities.
One of the standout features demonstrated was the AR applications available on the headset, allowing wearers to interact with digital elements in their physical environment. For instance, a digital dinosaur can respond to user actions, creating an immersive experience.
This move marks Apple’s latest foray into spatial computing, bringing augmented reality experiences to consumers. The company aims to elevate spatial computing to a mainstream level with the Apple Vision Pro.
