Approval Granted for Construction of High-Security Jail in Kathua District
In a meeting chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha of Jammu and Kashmir, the Administrative Council approved the creation of 342 positions for various categories in the construction of a high-security jail in village Dhanibra Mahanpur, Kathua district. The construction of the high-security jail is underway at a cost of INR 87.81 crore, with the capacity to house 240 high-risk inmates.
The construction of the jail is expected to be completed by February 2025 through the Police Housing Corporation. It is intended to incarcerate criminals, maintain public order, and prevent future crimes. This will also aid in reducing overcrowding in jails.
