Argentina Shocks All Blacks with Stunning 38-30 Win
In a surprising turn of events, Argentina opened their Rugby Championship campaign with a thrilling 38-30 victory over the All Blacks in Wellington. Both teams showcased their skills in a fast-paced match that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Argentina started strong, showing no fear in the face of the famed All Blacks. Early on, they pushed hard inside New Zealand’s half, but things took a turn when McKenzie scored a penalty to put the home team on the board first.
Things heated up when Sam Darry scored the first try for New Zealand, with some slick moves setting him up perfectly. This put the All Blacks in a comfortable position, leading 10-0.
However, Argentina didn’t panic. They quickly regrouped and scored their first try thanks to Lucio Cinti. A brilliant setup involving Pablo Matera and Santiago Chocobares gave Argentina the momentum they needed.
Even though New Zealand increased their lead with a couple more penalties and a converted try from Anton Lienert-Brown, the Pumas kept answering back. Mateo Carreras made a stunning run to score another try just before halftime, closing the gap to 20-15.
After halftime, the Pumas were off to a roaring start with Franco Molina powering through to score right from a clever lineout play. With another successful kick by Santiago Carreras, Argentina took the lead for the first time in the game.
The back-and-forth continued. New Zealand responded with Mark Teleʻa crossing the try line, putting them back in front momentarily. But that was the last time New Zealand would change the scoreboard.
In the final quarter, a veteran moment from Agustin Creevy sealed the deal for Argentina, as he burrowed in for a crucial late try. A few more penalties from Santiago Carreras pushed the score to 38-30, marking an unforgettable night for the Argentine rugby team.
