Arsenal Eyes Wide Forward Amid Concerns Over Saka’s Playing Time – Transfer Update
Arsenal is considering signing a new wide forward this transfer window following concerns over the hefty playing time shouldered by Bukayo Saka, as revealed by journalist Ben Jacobs in an interview with GIVEMESPORT.
The 22-year-old winger, who enjoyed a standout season with Arsenal, playing all but three Premier League matches last season and set for a crucial role with England at Euro 2020.
Jacobs suggests that Saka’s excessive workload in the previous campaign may prompt Arsenal to seek a fresh attacking option this summer, though their primary focus currently lies elsewhere.
Arsenal’s current transfer priorities include a center-forward, a midfielder, and a young left-back, aiming to bolster their squad ahead of a vital season under Mikel Arteta.
After narrowly missing out on the Premier League title by a mere two points, Arsenal is eager to build on last season’s momentum and are open to significant signings in the upcoming transfer window.
In the previous transfer window, Arsenal shattered their transfer record with a signing like Thomas Partey, hinting at a continued proactive approach in the market for new talent this year.
Jacobs highlighted that Arsenal has a multifaceted strategy for this transfer window, revealing an interest in a versatile defender alongside potential attacking reinforcements:
«As far as wide forwards are concerned, it could be something that Arsenal look at because of the amount of minutes that Saka played last season, and also because he’ll be coming off the Euros as well. So quite an intense summer leading into another busy season.»
«But at the moment, the priority is in those other positions, a more central forward, a midfielder, and possibly also a young left-back.»
«And if they could find a young left-back that can also be versatile and play left-back, centre-back, then even better, and that was what they liked about Jorrel Hato, even though the expectation is that he’ll stay at Ajax. He’s a centre-back that can also play left-back.»
Arsenal is unlikely to make any significant moves in June, with targets like RB Leipzig‘s Benjamin Sesko deciding to remain in Germany for the forthcoming season, leaving the Gunners to explore alternative options.
Following the Sesko setback, Arsenal is scouting for forward options this summer, with players like Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon and Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna on their radar.
Mikel Arteta is keen on strengthening the attacking department after underwhelming seasons from existing forwards like Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette, both of whom might see reduced playing time in the upcoming campaign.
