Australia to Face Scotland in Historic T20 Series
Ahead of their upcoming five-match ODI series against England, the Australian cricket team will engage in a notable three-match T20 International series against Scotland, commencing today, September 4, 2024.
All matches of the series will take place at the Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh, marking a significant occasion as this will only be the second instance of Australia competing against Scotland in the shortest format of the game.
The Australian squad is set to take the field with an inexperienced bowling lineup, as key players Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood have been rested for the T20 series. However, they maintain a strong batting lineup led by skipper Mitchell Marsh. The spotlight is expected to be on Jake Fraser-McGurk, who missed selection for Australia’s T20 World Cup squad.
On the opposing side, the Scottish team will be captained by Richie Berrington, featuring all-rounder Brandon McMullen and Michael Leask in the squad.
The probable playing XI for Australia includes Travis Head, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Mitchell Marsh, Josh Inglis, Cameron Green, Aaron Hardie, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa, Nathan Ellis, Xavier Bartlett, and Riley Meredith.
Scotland’s probable lineup features Matthew Cross, Charlie Tear, George Munsey, Richie Berrington, Brandon McMullen, Michael Leask, Mark Watt, Chris Greaves, Safyaan Sharif, and Charlie Cassell.
The teams have previously met only once in T20I cricket during the 2024 T20 World Cup, setting the stage for an exciting contest in this series.
Details for the match are as follows: the first T20I is scheduled for September 4 at Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh, followed by the second T20I on September 6 and the third T20I on September 7.
While the first T20 match will not be televised in India, fans can watch the live streaming on the FanCode app and website. Coverage for the series will also be available on various platforms, including BBC Sport Online in the UK and iPlayer.
