Australian Olympic hockey player Tom Craig found himself in hot water after being arrested in Paris. Reports say that he was taken into custody on Tuesday night for allegedly trying to buy cocaine.

The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) confirmed that a member of the hockey team was detained, though no charges have been laid so far. It has been revealed by the AAP that the player in question is none other than 28-year-old Tom Craig, a star of the Kookaburras.

Tom is no rookie on the Olympic stage, having previously contributed to the Australian team that won silver at the Tokyo Games. He has been a key player for over a decade, racking up more than 100 appearances for his country.

On the night of his arrest, Craig and his teammates had attended a function at their hotel. Afterward, some players decided to explore the Paris nightlife, leading to the unfortunate incident.

According to local police, Craig was found purchasing a gram of cocaine in the 9th district of Paris. Another man involved in the transaction was also arrested, allegedly found with 75 ecstasy tablets and seven vials of cocaine.

Witnesses reported seeing the police apprehend the two men during what appeared to be a drug deal. The AOC is currently looking into the matter and providing support for Craig as the story unfolds.

This incident comes at a disappointing time for Australian hockey, as both the Kookaburras and the Hockeyroos faced early exits from the tournament, failing to reach the semifinals. This performance continues a rough streak for Hockey Australia, as they seek to reclaim their status in the international hockey community.
