Australian Surfing Champion Mick Fanning Faces Tragedy with Third Brother’s Death

Australian surfing champion Mick Fanning is grappling with yet another devastating blow as news emerges of his third brother, Edward Fanning’s passing. This sorrowful event adds to the mournful losses Mick has already faced with the deaths of his elder brother, Peter, and brother Sean. Peter Fanning passed away at age 43 due to a health-related condition in 2015, while Sean Fanning lost his life in a tragic car crash in Coolangatta on the Gold Coast back in 1998.

Stevie Maher, a close friend of Edward from Coolangatta, shared the heartbreaking news on social media, expressing his deep condolences to the Fanning family. Edward’s untimely demise occurred while he was residing and working in Madagascar at a surf tour camp.

Mick Fanning, who remains the only surviving son of Liz Osborne and John Fanning, now faces this immense loss alongside his sister, Rachel Fanning, a psychologist based on the Gold Coast.

On the WSL‘s broadcast, Occy recounted Mick’s words about Edward’s passing, stating that Mick mentioned Edward had finally found happiness and that he had been struggling. The continuous string of tragedies has undoubtedly taken a severe toll on the Fanning family, leaving them with heavy hearts.
