Ballast Container Incident at Belfast International Airport

On August 9, 2023, a serious incident occurred involving a Boeing 737-43Q at Belfast International Airport. As the flight crew was getting the plane ready to land, they suddenly felt a strange vibration and heard odd sounds coming from the aircraft.

Realizing something was off, the crew decided to abort the landing. After taking the plane around for another approach, they discovered that a ballast container had shifted out of its original position. It was found resting against the wall lining of the aircraft.

In response to the situation, the crew made a PAN call and managed to land the aircraft safely on their next attempt. Fortunately, no one was harmed during the incident.

The investigation by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) is still ongoing, and a final report detailing the findings will be released later.
