FC Barcelona Signs Victor Barbera from Club Brugge
FC Barcelona has officially announced the signing of forward Victor Barbera from Club Brugge. The announcement was made via an email sent to members of the press on Tuesday evening in Catalonia.
According to the club’s statement, Victor Barbera has signed a two-year contract, valid until June 30, 2026, with an option for three additional years. He will join Barca Atletic following the transfer.
The 20-year-old athlete underwent medical examinations at the Hospital de Barcelona and the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. He has already returned to the pitch at the Johan Cruyff Stadium, where he donned the Blaugrana jersey once again.
The club highlighted Barbera’s journey, stating that he is a Barcelona native who gained recognition at Sant Gabriel before moving to the youth club Damm in 2019. In the following year, Barbera joined La Masia, where he became the top scorer in the U18 Catalan league with 19 goals.
After his impressive performance, Barbera was promoted to Barca Atletic. However, in June of the previous year, he made a move to Club Brugge on a free transfer, signing a contract that extended until 2027. Now, he is returning to Barcelona to gain further experience under the guidance of the new Barca Atletic coach, Albert Sanchez.
Victor Barbera aims to replicate the success of Pau Victor, who joined Barca Atletic on loan for the 2023/2024 season and finished as the top scorer. Unlike Victor, Pau Victor had a standout preseason tour in the United States, scoring a goal against Manchester City and securing a position with Hansi Flick‘s first team, appearing in both of the team’s La Liga fixtures so far this season.
There is great anticipation surrounding Victor Barbera’s potential. He may have the chance to step into a more prominent role in the coming year, especially given the aging of first-choice number nine, Robert Lewandowski, whose contract is set to expire in mid-2026 and likely will not be renewed.
