Baseus Magnetic Wireless Charging Power Banks Recalled Due To Overheating Risk

About 132,000 Baseus Magnetic Wireless Charging Power Banks are being recalled due to the risk of overheating, posing a potential hazard to consumers. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall after receiving 171 reports of issues related to the lithium-ion batteries within these power banks.

Incidents included 132 cases of batteries bulging or swelling and 39 reports of fires, which led to 13 burn injuries and approximately $20,000 in property damage. The affected power banks, which come in white, black, light blue, and light pink variants, feature magnetic sides designed to attach to mobile phones.

The recalled units can be identified by the model numbers PPCXM06 or PPCXW06 on the magnetic side, with 20W marked on the non-magnetic side. Manufactured in China and imported by Shenzhen Baseus Technology Co., these units were sold through AliExpress.com, Amazon.com, and Baseus.com from April 2022 to April 2024 at prices ranging from $18 to $55.

Consumers are advised to cease using the recalled power banks immediately. They can reach out to Baseus to claim a full refund by providing proof of purchase or receive $36 without proof of purchase. Baseus and Amazon are directly notifying known purchasers about the recall.

Proper disposal of the affected battery is crucial, and consumers are encouraged to follow their local recycling center’s guidelines for handling damaged, defective, or recalled lithium batteries. Refund requests can be submitted on Baseus’ website, while questions can be directed to Baseus at (855) 215-5824 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time.
