Bayern Munich Defender Injures Knee in Training
Bayern Munich has hit a rough patch just before the Bundesliga season kicks off.
Defender Josip Stanišić suffered a knee injury during practice on Monday. According to the team, he tore a ligament in his right knee, and now he’ll be sidelined for several weeks.
The Bundesliga opener against Wolfsburg is fast approaching, and Bayern is aiming to reclaim their title from Bayer Leverkusen, where Stanišić spent last season on loan.
This injury may also keep him out of two important games for Croatia in the UEFA Nations League against Portugal and Poland.
Bayern will also face the first two rounds of the Champions League next month, adding more pressure on the team as they navigate this setback.
Max Eberl, a board member for the club, confirmed that Stanišić underwent surgery following his training injury, expressing hopes for a speedy recovery.
Fans are understandably concerned about Stanišić’s injury, especially since it comes right as the new season is about to begin.
