BCCI Emerges as the Richest Cricket Board in the World
The landscape of international cricket is inhabited by 108 recognized countries, overseen by the International Cricket Council (ICC), comprising 12 full members and 96 associates. Among them, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stands as the behemoth, amassing a staggering 85% of the total revenue of the top 10 cricket boards globally.
The BCCI, often dubbed the wealthiest cricket board in the world, boasts a colossal wealth of around 2.25 billion US dollars, outshining Cricket Australia (CA) by a whopping 28 times. This financial supremacy can be primarily attributed to the Indian Premier League (IPL) which continues to witness a soaring popularity, significantly boosting the revenue stream of BCCI.
On the earnings front, Cricket Australia (CA) secures the second spot, with assets close to 79 million dollars, having its own Big Bash League lending a substantial financial advantage as well. Following closely is the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), with a reported fortune of nearly 59 million dollars.
In a nutshell, the BCCI’s stronghold in the cricketing realm is undisputable, making it the paramount revenue generator in the cricketing world. Alongside international events, the IPL’s overwhelming success has positioned BCCI at the zenith of financial prowess, overshadowing its counterparts from around the globe.
