Bentancur Injured in Premier League Opener
Tottenham’s Rodrigo Bentancur is facing an uncertain weekend after suffering a serious head injury during the Premier League season opener against Leicester City.
The injury occurred in the second half when Bentancur collided heads with another player. He fell to the ground, hitting his head on the pitch and required extensive treatment before being taken off on a stretcher while receiving oxygen.
After the match, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou shared that Bentancur was “conscious and communicating,” giving fans some hope as he traveled back with the team.
Unfortunately, concussion protocols will likely keep him out of the upcoming game against Everton, leaving his return date uncertain.
In related news, Yves Bissouma is back in contention after a one-game suspension for a lapse in judgment involving laughing gas. He’ll look to regain trust within the squad as he returns to training.
As for the match against Everton, it remains unclear whether Postecoglou will include Bissouma in the matchday squad while Bentancur’s situation is still being monitored.
