Beth Shriever Prepares for the Paris Olympics After Recent Injury
Beth Shriever, the British BMX racing star, is gearing up for the Paris Olympics after battling a recent injury. Just two months ago, during a World Championships event, she suffered a broken collarbone in a crash.
Despite the pain and worry that followed the injury, Beth didn’t let it keep her down for long. With the support of her team, including physiotherapists and mechanics, she was back on the bike in about six weeks, ready to defend her Olympic title.
Reflecting on her recent experiences, she expressed her excitement for the upcoming Games. «This track definitely plays to my strengths,» Beth shared. The Paris course is known for its technical challenges and requires a lot of pedaling, making it perfect for her racing style.
Looking back to her previous triumph in Tokyo, where she celebrated her gold medal with teammate Kye Whyte, Beth said it felt surreal to be up on that podium. The victory was a moment etched in her memory, and she feels it has only fueled her determination to excel again.
Throughout her journey, Beth has been inspired by her family, coaches, and the wider BMX community. As she prepares for Paris, she’s particularly looking forward to having her friends and family cheering her on, which was something she missed during the Tokyo Games.
As an athlete, Beth acknowledges the unique thrill BMX racing brings, from the adrenaline rush to the camaraderie among riders. Her road has been challenging, but she remains grateful for the support that has brought her to this point.
