Beyoncé’s BeyGood Foundation Awards Scholarship to Aspiring Cosmetologist
Beyoncé’s philanthropic endeavor, the Cécred X BeyGood foundation, has recently selected the first batch of recipients for its scholarship program, with aspiring cosmetologist Jacora Smart being among the chosen students. Hailing from the Beaver Beauty Academy in Decatur, Georgia, Smart expressed her disbelief and gratitude at being awarded one of the five scholarships.
Prior to the selection process, key figures including Beyoncé’s hairstylist Neal Farinah and Cécred’s Director of Education Dr. Kari Williams engaged with students at Smart’s school to evaluate financial need and community values within the beauty industry.
Smart, alongside four other recipients from Beaver Beauty Academy, presented their portfolios showcasing hair and makeup work, highlighting their passion for the industry and their dedication to their craft.
A self-professed fan of Beyoncé, Smart emphasized the profound impact the scholarship has had on her educational journey. The scholarship’s financial support will alleviate the burden of tuition fees, allowing Smart to focus on building her clientele and pursuing her goal of becoming a licensed master cosmetologist.
Looking ahead, Smart envisions establishing a beauty supply store catering specifically to the needs of the Black community, inspired by her personal experiences and the desire to uplift and empower Black individuals in the industry.
By leveraging her passion and expertise, Smart aims to create a space reminiscent of the iconic singer Beyoncé’s recent foray into the beauty industry with her hair care line launched earlier this year.
