Biden Mixes Up Zelenskyy with Putin During NATO Summit
During the NATO summit in Washington DC, President Joe Biden mistakenly referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as ‘President Putin’ in a gaffe that quickly made headlines.
Biden, while introducing Zelensky, initially said, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, President Putin,’ before correcting himself and acknowledging his error.
The mix-up comes as Zelenskyy continues to lead Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict with Russia, led by President Vladimir Putin, which began in 2022.
Responding to Biden’s mistake with humor, Zelenskyy quipped, ‘I’m better than Putin,’ to which Biden playfully agreed, stating, ‘You are a hell of a lot better,’ attributing his slip to being overly focused on countering Putin.
As concerns mount about Biden’s mental acuity and electability against former President Donald Trump, the incident has sparked further debate within US political circles.
