Bihar Election 2024: NDA Leads with 32 Seats as INDIA Alliance Makes Debut
The Bihar Election Results for 2024 have shown significant developments in the political arena. According to the latest reports from the Election Commission of India, the Janata Dal United (JDU) has taken the lead on 14 seats, closely followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leading in 12.
Chirag Paswan, the leader of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (LJP(R)), is making a considerable mark in Hajipur, holding a significant lead in the constituency. BJP stalwarts are also asserting dominance, with Rajiv Pratap Rudy leading in Saran and Giriraj Singh leading in Begusarai.
On the other side, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress alliance under the INDIA bloc are making their mark by leading in a total of 8 seats across Bihar.
Significant wins and leads characterize the election in Bihar, with BJP’s Ravi Shankar Prasad leading in Patna Sahib and JDU‘s Vijaylakshmi Devi maintaining a strong foothold in Siwan. Congress‘ Manoj Kumar is also leading in Sasaram, showcasing the party’s resilience in the state.
The electoral landscape in Bihar has seen dramatic shifts, especially considering the dominant victory of the NDA coalition in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. During that time, the BJP secured 17 seats, the JDU claimed 16, and the LJP took 6, while the RJD, part of the Mahagathbandhan coalition, failed to secure any seats.
Looking further back to the 2014 general elections, the BJP emerged as a dominant force without an alliance with the JDU. The shift in power dynamics underlines the strategic alliances and shifts in Bihar’s political landscape in recent years.
