Bill Clinton Cbs Interview

Former President Bill Clinton recently expressed his views regarding the feasibility of electing a female president in the United States, suggesting that a Republican woman might have a better chance of success than their Democratic counterparts. Clinton made these remarks during an interview with CBS correspondent Tracy Smith on Sunday.

Asked whether the U.S. is prepared for a woman president, Clinton pondered, «Maybe,» indicating the nation’s possible readiness. He remarked, «I think in some ways we’ve moved to the right as a reaction to all the turmoil.» The former president also noted that if Hillary Clinton had been nominated in 2008, «she would’ve walked in, just like Obama did.»

Clinton’s comments come in the wake of Vice President Kamala Harris‘s defeat to President-elect Donald Trump. Smith inquired if the country had shifted following Harris’s loss, and Clinton suggested, «It would probably be easier for a conservative Republican woman to win,» drawing a parallel to the political landscape that facilitated Margaret Thatcher‘s victory in the United Kingdom.

On a different note, Clinton responded to questions about why his new book revisits his affair with Monica Lewinsky. During the interview, he explained, «Because I thought I needed to say something about it, and I wanted to be as helpful as I could to let her turn the page.» Clinton went on to commend Lewinsky for her work on bullying, expressing his best wishes for her future.

Clinton also mentioned his involvement in the Harris-Walz presidential campaign, a reflection of his continued engagement in political affairs. However, he emphasized his opposition to another potential Trump presidency by stating that it would be a «travesty.»

The interview was part of CBS’s «Sunday Morning» program, where Clinton shared insights from his book «Citizens» and his perspective on various political issues presently facing the nation.
