BJP Leader Issues Warning to Owaisi Brothers in Hyderabad, AIMIM Chief Responds
BJP leader Navneet Rana sparked controversy in Hyderabad with her recent remarks aimed at the Owaisi brothers, key figures in the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) political party stronghold. Rana’s comments, referencing a statement made by AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi in 2013, warned that the balance of the «Hindu-Muslim ratio» could be altered in mere seconds if the police were removed.
Rana’s bold assertion, made while campaigning for BJP’s candidate Madhavi Latha in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Hyderabad, directly challenged the Owaisi brothers, particularly Asaduddin Owaisi, who has served as the MP for Hyderabad since 2004. The fiery exchange underscores the intensifying political landscape in the region where both AIMIM and BJP are vying for electoral supremacy.
During her campaign speech, Rana referenced Akbaruddin Owaisi’s past remarks, stating that while the younger Owaisi brother claimed it would take 15 minutes to showcase their strength if the police were withdrawn, it would only take the BJP 15 seconds. Rana’s words add fuel to the already heated competition for the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat, with the BJP aiming to challenge the longstanding grip of AIMIM on the region’s political representation.
The Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency, comprising seven Assembly segments, has been historically dominated by AIMIM, with Asaduddin Owaisi succeeding his father Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi in representing the area. The BJP’s nomination of Latha as a candidate in this election marks a strategic move to reshape the political landscape in the city.
In response to Rana’s provocative statements, Asaduddin Owaisi swiftly countered, affirming that the BJP had the power and resources to act on their promises. He challenged the BJP to execute their claims and emphasized that his party was equally prepared to face any challenges posed by their opponents.
Owaisi further addressed recent remarks by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, suggesting that a vote for AIMIM would benefit Pakistan. Citing Modi’s own diplomatic engagements with Pakistani officials, Owaisi highlighted the complexities of political narratives in the region and defended his party’s track record.
