India Today‘s e-Chunav, an online poll conducted to gauge the pre-election sentiments of voters ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha results, revealed a significant landslide victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The e-Chunav saw over 73% of the participants supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for a potential third consecutive term in office.

The e-Chunav, which employed a ‘one number, one vote’ format, received close to 1.3 lakh votes in total. Of these votes, around 23% were in favor of the opposition alliance known as INDIA, while a mere 4% of the votes went to other parties or candidates.

Commencing on April 19 during the initial phase of the Lok Sabha elections and closing on June 1 after the seventh and final phase, the e-Chunav required participants to select their respective states before casting their virtual votes for the party they supported. To maintain the integrity of the poll, users were restricted to voting just once per unique mobile number, ensuring confidentiality and impartiality.

The results of the e-Chunav undoubtedly showcased a staggering endorsement for the BJP, particularly in the Hindi heartland states and the western region of the country. Surprisingly, the BJP also garnered a substantial number of votes from traditionally challenging states like Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, where the party has struggled historically.
