A popular bakery called Black Star Pastry is shutting down its Melbourne locations this Sunday after five years of business.

The decision was announced on social media, where the bakery expressed its sadness over the closures, citing rising costs and a tough economic climate as reasons for the move.

Black Star Pastry has been famous for its delicious desserts, particularly its layered strawberry-watermelon cake, which many customers adore.

The bakery shared that the closures were necessary due to challenges like an industry-wide staffing shortage, forcing them to focus more on their original home in Sydney.

While the Melbourne stores in the CBD, St Kilda, and Chadstone will close, the bakery’s locations in Sydney will continue to operate as usual.

Customers took to social media to express their disappointment and share their memories of the bakery. Many voiced their affection for the unique treats, hoping they would return to Melbourne one day.
