The Blitzboks of South Africa secured the final spot in the men’s Rugby Sevens competition at the Paris Olympics after a thrilling victory over Great Britain in the World Rugby Sevens Repechage final held in Monaco.
After a challenging season in 2024, the Blitzboks redeemed themselves with a stellar performance in Monaco, defeating Uganda and Canada in the knockout stages en route to the final showdown against Team GB.
In a tightly contested final, the Blitzboks showcased their defensive prowess and attacking flair to secure a hard-fought 14-5 victory over Great Britain.
The win not only secured South Africa’s spot in the Paris Olympics but also marked their third consecutive appearance at the prestigious event.
The other teams in contention, including Canada and Spain, put up strong performances throughout the tournament but fell short of securing the final Olympic qualification spot.
