Bob’s Burgers Actor Jay Johnston Pleads Guilty to Capitol Riot Charges
Actor Jay Johnston, known for his role as Jimmy Pesto on the popular animated series Bob’s Burgers, has recently pleaded guilty to charges related to the Capitol Riot that took place on January 6, 2021.
Johnston, 55, from Los Angeles, faced a felony count of civil disorder for his involvement in the events at the US Capitol where supporters of former President Donald Trump stormed the building while Congress was certifying Joe Biden‘s election win.
Aside from Bob’s Burgers, Johnston has also appeared in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy alongside Will Ferrell and had roles in the television sitcom Arrested Development.
According to FBI documents, Johnston was captured on video participating in the riot, pushing against law enforcement officers who were guarding a tunnel entrance at the Capitol and passing a stolen police shield to other rioters.
Following the incident, Johnston allegedly acknowledged his presence at the Capitol through text messages, and associates identified him from photos published by the FBI online.
Johnston now faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison for his involvement in the Capitol Riot.
