Bogdan Bogdanovic Expresses Frustration After Olympic Semifinal Loss to Team USA
Bogdan Bogdanovic, the captain of the Serbian national basketball team, shared his thoughts after their challenging semifinal loss to Team USA in the Olympic Games.
Despite his disappointment, Bogdanovic was gracious and thanked the fans for their support, saying, «Thank you to everyone for everything; it was a tough loss, but I am proud of the way we fought.» His words reflected the tenacity and persistence the Serbian team displayed throughout the match.
In the post-game comments, Bogdanovic emphasized that while the loss stung, the team kept their fighting spirit intact. «We didn’t give up, and that is something we can be proud of,» he remarked. He pointed out that with a few different plays, the game could have gone their way. However, he also expressed his frustration with the referees’ calls during the match.
«We tried to talk to them; they didn’t try to talk to us. They just walked away. But it’s ok. The USA doesn’t need that type of help against us,» Bogdanovic said, showing his irritation over how the game was officiated. He added, «We played the best we could. We could have made a few more shots and saved a few more possessions at the end, but that’s basketball.»
He insisted that he did not want to dwell too much on the referees, stating, «I’m not that type of guy who will talk about referees, and I even wanted to win against referees too,» highlighting his team’s efforts to remain composed throughout the game.
Looking ahead, Bogdanovic and his teammates are focused on preparing for the bronze medal match against Germany. He expressed their determination to recover and put their best foot forward in the next game, which he acknowledged would be tough.
In a lighter moment during the match, Bogdanovic celebrated hitting a three-pointer with a gesture made famous by USA basketball legend Carmelo Anthony. This drew a response from players like LeBron James and sparked some friendly rivalry on the court.
As Bogdanovic prepares for the bronze medal contest, the spirit among the team remains high, and they are determined to fight for another chance at Olympic glory.
