Brad Pitt On F1 Film Set

Hollywood actor Brad Pitt shocked fans on Saturday when he collapsed while filming a scene for his upcoming film on a racetrack. Pitt was pictured stumbling away from a staged car crash during filming. Fortunately, a crew member ensured his safety by having a crash mat ready to avoid any injuries.

Pitt was in the middle of shooting a highly anticipated scene for the film titled «F1,» scheduled for release in June 2025. In this particular scene, his character, Sonny Hayes, an aging race car driver, manages to escape a car crash unscathed.

The production team, along with director Joseph Kosinski, known for his work on «Top Gun: Maverick,» released a statement via social media from Sonny’s fictional racing team, APX GP. «During Qualifying, Sonny sustained a significant impact requiring immediate medical evaluation,» the statement said. «Incidents of this magnitude are always taken seriously, and Sonny’s health remains our top priority.»

The statement continued, «While Sonny is otherwise stable, he will not participate in tomorrow’s race as he focuses on recovery. The entire team stands behind him, and we’ll provide updates when available. Joshua will race solo tomorrow, carrying the team forward.»

The storyline of «F1» follows Sonny Hayes, a once-great race car driver whose career was derailed after a devastating crash. He is brought back to the racing scene by the owner of APX GP, a role played by a yet-unnamed actor.

«I would be a guy who raced in the ’90s,» Pitt stated in a 2023 interview. «He has a horrible crash and kind of disappears and then is racing in other disciplines.» The production team was noted for integrating realistic race day footage into the film.

«We’re shooting at the actual Grands Prix,» Kosinski explained in July. «There are certain aspects of this film where we’re working in very, very tight windows, shooting on the track between practice and qualifying sessions in front of hundreds of thousands of people.» Kosinski also shared an anecdote of filming at last year’s Silverstone Grand Prix, illustrating the high-pressure environment.

The film’s production has drawn the involvement of real-life racing stars to bolster authenticity. Racing star Lewis Hamilton is one of the producers and shared his excitement about the project during a press conference at the 2023 British Grand Prix. «We want everyone to love it and to really feel that we encapsulate what the essence of this sport is all about,» Hamilton commented.

Furthermore, Kosinski revealed that many famous F1 drivers have cameo roles in the film, playing themselves to enhance the movie’s realistic representation of the racing world. «We’re the eleventh team,» Kosinski explained. «We see the drivers on the track, and we’re hoping to see all of them off-track as well.»
