Brentford Signs Young Talent Gustavo Nunes
Brentford Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of youth winger Gustavo Nunes. Head coach Thomas Frank expressed enthusiasm regarding the acquisition, highlighting the competition faced from other clubs to secure his talents.
“He is a winger who can go past players one-on-one. He is direct and he can create,” Frank remarked. He emphasized that Nunes has significant potential, which the club aims to facilitate and maximize during his development.
Gustavo Nunes, originally from southern Brazil, joined Grêmio‘s youth academy in 2021 at the age of 15. During his time with the club, he notably made his mark in the Brazilian Under-17 Championship, leading Grêmio to the final. In the following year, he continued to demonstrate his capabilities by contributing to an undefeated title campaign in the Under-20 State Championship.
In February 2024, Nunes made his first-team debut for Grêmio, coming on as a substitute in a Série A match against São Luiz. His impressive performance included providing an assist in this match, and within a week, he scored his first professional goal in a decisive 6-2 victory over Santa Cruz.
Throughout his time with Grêmio, Nunes made a total of 20 appearances in the Brazilian top flight, tallying three goals and one assist. His experiences and accomplishments at a young age suggest a bright future as he begins this new chapter with Brentford.
