Mama Baldé, the forward for Stade Brestois 29, encountered significant travel challenges following his participation in international matches with the Guinea-Bissau national team. After playing against Eswatini and Mozambique, Baldé faced a complicated journey back to his club, as detailed by his coach Éric Roy during a press briefing on Thursday.

«Mama Baldé is currently on planes—somewhere. It has been difficult for him to leave Guinea-Bissau because there were practically no flights available over the past two days,» Roy explained. «We are trying to have him arrive directly in Nice. That’s the objective. He should arrive by this evening, hopefully. However, the lack of available flights means he would be unable to retrieve his luggage, as he has to take three different planes.»

Because of these travel issues, Baldé’s participation in Brest’s match against AS Monaco on Friday evening is uncertain. Roy indicated that Baldé would only be able to play if he found himself in a bed in Monaco by Thursday night.

Despite the travel woes, Baldé’s adaptation to his new team has been positive, with the forward contributing two goals and one assist in his recent appearances for the club, commonly referred to as the «Ty-Zefs.» Roy expressed optimism over Baldé’s adjustment, noting, «His integration has been smooth, and his performance on the field exemplifies this.»

The upcoming Ligue 1 match poses a significant test for Brest as they prepare to face AS Monaco. Monaco is currently second in the league standings, trailing behind Paris Saint-Germain, while Brest is in the 12th position, ten points behind Monaco, on the domestic scene.
