Broncos Conclude Preseason with Convincing Victory Against Cardinals
DENVER — The Denver Broncos finished their preseason on a high note with a decisive 38-12 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on August 25, 2024. This win not only capped an undefeated preseason for the Broncos but also showcased the strong performance of their quarterbacks.
Head Coach Sean Payton expressed his satisfaction with the team’s effort, stating, ‘Don’t ever get tired of how it feels to win.’ Payton emphasized the importance of maintaining energy and focus, even while evaluating various player groups during the game.
Quarterbacks Zach Wilson and Jarrett Stidham delivered impressive performances, each making strong cases to remain on the roster. Stidham started the game, leading a 10-play, 55-yard touchdown drive, culminating in a three-yard touchdown run by Audric Estime.
Wilson later took over in relief, effectively directing three touchdown drives, including a memorable 21-yard scramble on second-and-20. His ability to maintain composure under pressure was on full display, highlighted by a 46-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Johnson.
Despite their individual successes, both quarterbacks expressed their commitment to supporting starting quarterback Bo Nix. Stidham stated he would assist Nix in getting prepared and acknowledged his own capabilities as a starting quarterback.
The Cardinals, facing challenges in their final preseason game and ending with an 0-3 record, are looking to regroup ahead of their regular-season opener. Their quarterbacks, Clayton Tune and Desmond Ridder, showcased determination, but faced difficulties, including a crucial interception returned for a touchdown by the Broncos’ Levelle Bailey.
Payton highlighted the positive transformations within the team since last year, emphasizing the contributions of new players and the improved chemistry among team members. The Broncos are looking forward to the roster decisions that will come as they finalize their preparations for the upcoming regular season.
