Caleb Kennedy Sentenced in DUI Crash Fatality Case
Country music singer Caleb Kennedy has been sentenced to two years and three months in prison for his involvement in a fatal DUI crash that occurred in 2022. The incident resulted in the death of 54-year-old Larry Duane Parris. Kennedy, a former contestant on «American Idol,» originally faced a prison sentence of 25 years and a $25,100 fine. However, the sentence was reduced to eight years, with a substantial portion of it suspended, and the fine decreased to $15,100.
The sentencing took place on Monday, and as part of the agreement, Kennedy will also serve three years under home detention. The musician is receiving credit for two years and nine months already served in detention. The crash took place in February 2022 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Kennedy, under the influence, crashed his vehicle into a workshop where Parris was present, leading to Parris’s fatal injuries.
According to a report by AL.com, a toxicology examination indicated that Kennedy had traces of THC and prescription Prozac in his system at the time of the crash. Kennedy was arrested on felony driving-under-the-influence charges following the incident.
These court proceedings and the sentence mark a significant development in the aftermath of the crash, drawing attention to the serious consequences of driving under the influence.
