Camille Kostek’s Seventh Year with SI Swimsuit: A Legacy of Confidence and Sisterhood
Sports Illustrated Swimsuit legend Camille Kostek has captured the brand’s essence for seven consecutive years, continually impressing the team with her charm and professionalism. The 32-year-old model, who surged to fame through the Swim Search in 2018, was the first alum from the open casting call to be featured on the issue’s cover. Her debut cover, shot by Josie Clough, marked the 2019 issue, showcasing her burgeoning relationship with the franchise.
Known for her supportive nature towards newer models, Kostek likens her association with SI Swimsuit to being part of a ‘sisterhood.’ The Connecticut native recently ventured to the picturesque landscapes of Portugal, where she showcased her versatility in a photoshoot with renowned photographer Ben Watts. This shoot represented a shift from her previous beach locales, including Malibu, California, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
In Portugal, Kostek exhibited a series of vintage, elevated looks, a departure from her traditional beach attire, including a striking blue set from Lybethras. The sustainable swimsuit, made from biodegradable Brazilian Lycra, features a chic, classic design with gold seashell embellishments. Her role extends beyond modeling, as she is also a television host and designer of her swimwear and jewelry line.
Alongside her Portuguese venture, Kostek participated in a special Hollywood, Florida photoshoot alongside 26 other SI Swimsuit alumni. This shoot commemorated the magazine’s upcoming 60th anniversary in 2024. Kostek expressed her immense gratitude and inspiration drawn from earlier legends within the SI Swimsuit family, stating, “At a young age, I saw these women who instilled confidence in me… They’re moguls, entrepreneurs, personalities, game changers.”
Kostek expresses a deep sense of legacy and pride in her journey with the magazine, appreciating the unpredictable nature of life and its euphoric moments. Reflecting on her experiences with Sports Illustrated, she credited the magazine with empowering her to embrace her natural self and hopes to leave a similar legacy for future models.
