In a much-anticipated All-Mexico showdown at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the clash between Canelo Alvarez and Jaime Munguia ahead of the Cinco de Mayo weekend has set the stage for a thrilling encounter.

Alvarez, with his undisputed super middleweight championship on the line, is the favorite against the hard-hitting Munguia, who has a perfect 43-0 record under the mentorship of Freddie Roach.

The lead-up to the fight has not been without controversy, with Alvarez’s former promoter, Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy, stirring the pot with pre-fight rants aimed at Canelo, making the press conference a heated affair.

While Munguia remains calm amidst the drama between De La Hoya and Alvarez, Canelo has taken a more serious approach, citing De La Hoya’s attempts at creating distractions.

Munguia, who had a significant win against John Ryder in January after moving his camp to Los Angeles under Roach’s guidance, is set to face the biggest challenge of his career against Alvarez.

Alvarez, after making history in 2021 by unifying the super middleweight titles, faced a slight dip in form but came back strong in his last bout against Jermell Charlo, cementing his status as a pound-for-pound contender.

The undercard features other exciting matchups, including Mario Barrios defending his WBC interim welterweight title against Fabian Maidana, promising an action-packed fight night.
