Carlos Alcaraz emerged victorious over Felix Auger-Aliassime in an impressive performance at Roland-Garros, securing a spot in the quarterfinals of the prestigious tournament.

The young Spaniard showcased his versatile game, utilizing a mix of well-timed drop shots and powerful baseline play to overpower his Canadian opponent in straight sets.

Alcaraz’s dominance was evident as he struck 34 winners and executed 13 out of 18 net points in the 2-hour and 20-minute match on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

In a thrilling start, Auger-Aliassime initially broke Alcaraz in the opening game, only to be swiftly countered by the resilient Spaniard.

The match remained competitive until the pivotal moments of the first set, where Alcaraz seized control with a crucial break at 4-3, taking the set 6-3 after a 49-minute battle.

Remaining assertive in the second set, Alcaraz continued to apply pressure, eventually securing a break to lead 3-2 and maintaining his momentum to claim the set 6-3.

Auger-Aliassime’s bid for a comeback was hampered by a groin injury, leading to a medical timeout during the match, but Alcaraz’s relentless play saw him close out the match decisively, winning 6-3, 6-3, 6-1.

Auger-Aliassime’s journey in Paris was cut short, following a valiant effort that saw him match his previous best result at Roland-Garros, reaching the round of 16 before facing the formidable Alcaraz.

Alcaraz’s impressive record at Roland-Garros now stands at 15-4 lifetime, as he sets his sights on a quarterfinal clash against Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece.
