Carlos Sainz Snatches Victory At Australian Grand Prix To End Red Bull Streak

Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz has broken Red Bull’s Formula 1 winning streak with a remarkable victory at the Australian Grand Prix, marking a triumphant return after missing the Saudi Arabia race due to his recovery from appendicitis.

Sainz found the perfect opportunity to secure the win as Max Verstappen faced an early retirement from the race due to a fiery mechanical failure, halting his remarkable winning streak dating back several races.

The race, held in Melbourne, showcased Sainz’s determined front-row start alongside Verstappen, maintaining his lead into the first turn and swiftly overtaking the Dutch driver on lap two to control the lead until the checkered flag.

Regrettably, Verstappen’s hopes were dashed with an engine issue that ignited flames from his car’s rear, bringing an unexpected end to his race on just the fourth lap, marking his first Did Not Finish (DNF) in years.

Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton faced his own challenges, retiring early with power unit problems after a disappointing 11th-place start, leading to a dismal day for the Mercedes team alongside Russell’s dramatic crash.

Sainz’s victory was further solidified as he kept a strong pace ahead of teammate Charles Leclerc, clinching Ferrari’s first 1-2 finish since the Bahrain Grand Prix in 2022, followed by Lando Norris claiming a podium and thwarting Australian driver Oscar Piastri’s hopes for his home race glory.

Other notable results included Sergio Perez finishing fifth for Red Bull, Fernando Alonso edging into sixth place for Aston Martin, and McLaren’s Lance Stroll securing seventh position in a race filled with unexpected twists and turns.

Looking ahead, Sainz’s win not only ends Red Bull’s dominating streak in Formula 1 but underscores the fierce competition and unpredictable outcomes that continue to define the sport.
