Carol Burnett Reflects on Comedy and Hollywood Career
Carol Burnett recently shared her thoughts with Fox News about her long-standing career in Hollywood and her take on modern-day comedy.
At 91 years old, Burnett is still going strong in the industry and says she’ll continue working as long as it’s fun for her.
Reflecting on what makes comedy great, she remarked that many modern shows tend to be ‘boring and not funny,’ especially when compared to classics like ‘The Dick Van Dyke Show‘ and ‘All in the Family.’
Burnett noted, “It’s been kind of easy to get a laugh by being a little blue,” explaining that humor that relies heavily on profanity can detract from the craft.
She expressed her appreciation for the character-driven and clever comedy of the past, which she feels holds up well to this day.
<pHer most recent project, 'Palm Royale,’ has recently been renewed for a second season, much to her delight. Burnett said she was thrilled to join the star-studded cast that includes Kristen Wiig and Allison Janney.
As she looks forward to continuing her acting career, Burnett also shared that she still has some big names on her bucket list, mentioning Meryl Streep and George Clooney as dream co-stars.
Burnett has had an incredible career, known for her groundbreaking variety show, which aired for 11 years and won numerous awards.
Despite the changing landscape of comedy, Carol Burnett remains a cherished icon, still captivating audiences with her talent and charm.
