Carrie Underwood Reflects on End of Las Vegas Residency
Carrie Underwood, the acclaimed country music artist, is preparing for the final shows of her Las Vegas residency titled «REFLECTION,» which is set to conclude in April 2025. Speaking candidly about the end of this significant chapter during an ABC News interview, Underwood expressed both nostalgia and pride, acknowledging the love and hard work invested in the production. «I feel like this will live in my mind as one of the greatest shows we’ve ever put together,» Underwood remarked.
Underwood’s residency at the Resorts World Theatre began in December 2021 and has been described as a «greatest hits show». Popular tracks such as «Something in the Water,» «Jesus, Take the Wheel,» and «Before He Cheats» have been central to the performances. A standout feature of the residency has been the enhanced onstage production of «Before He Cheats,» which includes fire effects and choreography. «We’ve asked ourselves, ‘What is our wish list?’ and it’s like, ‘Let’s light something on fire,'» Underwood explained.
The singer also highlighted the emotional resonance of «Jesus, Take The Wheel,» referring to it as a «little worship» moment. «It will always be one of my absolute favorites to sing,» Underwood said, reflecting on the song’s enduring impact.
«Something in the Water» serves as a poignant finale, complemented by a water backdrop and family videos. Underwood’s children, Isaiah and Jacob, who she shares with husband Mike Fisher, have participated in the experience, often watching their mother from backstage. «You can see how proud they are, which makes me proud,» Underwood shared about her sons’ reactions.
In a move to share the Las Vegas experience with a broader audience, Underwood’s residency will stream on Hulu in January 2025. «I feel it would have been a real shame if it just lived on in people’s memories,» she remarked, highlighting the importance of preserving these performances for future viewing.
As «REFLECTION» concludes, Underwood looks forward to new ventures, including returning to «American Idol» as a judge, calling it a «full circle moment.» Reflecting on her journey since winning the competition in 2005, she described herself as «blessed» and expressed excitement about influencing new talents.
On leisure days away from her residency, Underwood indulges in activities such as baking and exploring Las Vegas, mixing relaxation with her engagements in the vibrant city. «There’s so much to do in Vegas,» she noted, often opting to enjoy local shows and restaurants during her time off.
Underwood’s journey was further spotlighted through the ABC News special «Vegas Lights & Country Nights: Countdown to the CMA Awards – A Special Edition of 20/20,» where she delved into her experience and the show’s impact.
