Casey Cowan Assumes Role as New Public Announcer for Texas Tech Football
Texas Tech University has appointed Casey Cowan as the new public announcer for its football games at the Jones AT&T Stadium. Cowan, a native of Littlefield, made his debut in this role on Saturday.
Cowan’s experience is notable, as he currently co-hosts the podcast, Locked On Texas Tech, which focuses on Texas Tech Athletics, and serves as the station manager and news director for Cute Boots Broadcasting/KLVT Radio.
Fans of Texas Tech football expressed their support for Cowan on social media following his introduction over the PA system. One post acknowledged the changes made, stating, «The Jones won’t be the same without Curtis Parrish on the mic, but I do want to give a hat tip to Mr. Casey Cowan. He’s doing a swell job.» Others agreed that Texas Tech Athletics made a commendable decision by selecting Cowan to take over this significant role.
In another update related to Texas Tech football, players are vying for single-digit jersey numbers, which are often seen as status symbols within the team. This year, linebacker Curry has received the No. 6 jersey, which was the last remaining single-digit number available.
Prior to Curry’s assignment of the No. 6 jersey, this number had several contenders. Coach Joey McGuire revealed in May that Curry, alongside linebackers Mike Dingle and others, expressed interest in adopting No. 6. Curry, who previously wore No. 42, has been recognized for his performance as the top backup to starter Ben Roberts since early spring practice.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders are set to open their season on Saturday against Abilene Christian.
