The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified its efforts in the liquor policy case involving Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Security has been tightened at the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi as Kejriwal is set to appear before the court after being produced by the CBI. The Supreme Court is also scheduled to hear Kejriwal’s plea challenging a Delhi High Court order that had revoked his bail in the same liquor policy case.
On Monday, the CBI interrogated Arvind Kejriwal in Tihar Jail and recorded his statement regarding the liquor policy case. Following this, the CBI filed an application in a special court requesting a production warrant for Kejriwal, which was subsequently issued by the court.
Kejriwal is currently in judicial custody in an Enforcement Directorate case. The CBI is seeking court approval to arrest Kejriwal formally in connection with the liquor policy case. If arrested, Kejriwal may not be released even if the Supreme Court rules in his favor related to the bail pause by the Delhi High Court.
The CBI is expected to produce Kejriwal before a trial court today, likely before the Supreme Court hearing commences. Amitabh Rawat, the Holiday Judge of Rouse Avenue Court, will preside over the proceedings.
Amid these developments, the Delhi Chief Minister’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal, has also arrived at the court premises. The legal battle surrounding the liquor policy case involving Arvind Kejriwal continues to unfold as the CBI seeks further action in response to the investigation.
