CBS’s ‘Matlock’ Takes Two-Week Break for Holiday Programming
The popular CBS series ‘Matlock’ will not air new episodes over the next two weeks, leaving fans curious about the brief hiatus. According to CBS, the known legal drama will take a step back from its usual Thursday night slot, with new programming scheduled instead.
On the evening of Thursday, November 21, CBS will replace ‘Matlock’ with a holiday TV movie titled ‘Nugget is Dead? A Christmas Story.’ This movie, airing from 8 PM to 10 PM ET, revolves around a character named Steph Stool, who returns to her hometown after her family’s dog falls ill, taking viewers to a cozy, coastal town in Australia.
Following the movie, repeat episodes of CBS’s original shows ‘George & Mandy’s First Marriage’ and ‘Ghosts‘ will air. The network’s decision aligns with its holiday programming strategy, appealing to a broader audience during the festive season.
On the subsequent week, November 28, which is Thanksgiving, CBS will continue with its holiday program and reruns, postponing ‘Matlock’ until early December. The series will resume with Season 1, Episode 7, titled «Belly of the Beast,» on Thursday, December 5.
‘Matlock,’ which has been a major hit since its debut, was renewed for a second season shortly after the airing of Episode 2, ‘Rome, in a Day,’ thanks in large part to its strong audience reception and commendable ratings. The reboot of the classic series has received a high approval rating, with audiences highly praising Kathy Bates‘ portrayal as Madeline «Matty» Matlock, the gender-reversed lead character.
As fans await its return, the upcoming episode promises intrigue as it involves a pharmaceutical case and personal dramas against the backdrop of a law firm’s holiday party. Additionally, the series is expected to continue its exploration of legal themes and character dynamics.
The cast features renowned actors, including Jason Ritter, Skye P. Marshall, and Beau Bridges, contributing to the show’s engaging plotlines and character developments. The return of ‘Matlock’ is much anticipated as the series progresses into more complex legal dramas and unforeseen plot twists.
